Peter Thorne was born November 11, 1946 in Jamaica, New York. When he was 3, his family moved to West Hempstead, New York, where as a teenager he first began playing in rock bands.
Drafted into the U.S. Army and stationed in Germany in the late ’60s, he played with fellow soldier Jack Ely, the former lead singer of the Kingsmen (“Louie Louie”).
After he returned to the states, he joined or formed various groups throughout the ’70s including Damien, Lightning, Whitefoot, and White Anguish. These were followed by the power trio Black Cat, which signed with Fire Sign Records.
In the ’80s, he played with Raw Silk, American Invasion, and the Baxters. He then started the Peter Thorne Band and, in the ’90s, formed Big Raisin.
The album “PT 1” was released in November 2023.
Peter and his wife, Tricia Allen, former lead guitarist of the Mystery Girls, live in Glen Head, New York. A son, Pete, and his wife Tonya live in Athens, Georgia, and a grandbeing, E.R., and their partner Thea live in Decatur, Georgia.
